Unfollow bait:
I get that bikers are doing their jobs to save the planet and shit, and I support that. I do my best to look for bikers and to not drive like an asshole around them, or ever, but at the same time 1) you don’t have to register a bike, take a test to ride one on the roads, or carry insurance to do so, 2) despite doing my best to prevent accidents, if there ever were one it would be my ass on the plate in terms of insurance payments and damages, even if you were the one being an idiot, and 3) there are a lot of idiots riding bikes. Idiots who swerve into the road in front of me, idiots who do not signal, idiots who do not wear helmets. Guess what, bikers! If it’s a tie, you lose. And then I lose when your family sues me for wrongful death. Everyone loses. So yeah. Don’t be an idiot. And wear your fucking helmet. Also? Roads were built for cars. Lobby your city for bike lanes, but in the mean time I paid all my fees to drive on these roads. Get the fuck out of my way.
I agree and I feel the same way about pedestrians. Some people strut across the street when there’s no crosswalk, or the light is green, taunting drivers, “Go ahead, hit me.” And if I did, due to their actions, I would be at fault legally. I don’t like that. You dart out into a busy street, you should be responsible for whatever happens to you.
